How Much Does House Cleaning Cost in Ohio?

TLDR: In Tiffin and Bucyrus, expect to pay $140 to $200 for a standard 3 bedroom cleaning. Deep cleans and first time visits cost more. Prices vary based on home size, condition, and what you need done.

This is the most common question I get from people considering a cleaning service. Nobody wants to call and ask for pricing only to get a runaround answer. So here is a straightforward breakdown of what house cleaning actually costs in our area.

What Affects the Price?

Before I share numbers, it helps to understand what goes into a quote. Every home is different.

Home size matters. A 1,500 square foot ranch takes less time than a 3,000 square foot two story. More rooms and bathrooms mean more work.

Current condition matters. A home that gets regular cleaning takes less time than one that has not been deep cleaned in a year. First time cleans almost always take longer.

What you need done matters. Basic cleaning covers surfaces, floors, kitchens, and bathrooms. Deep cleaning adds baseboards, inside appliances, windows, and all those spots that get skipped in weekly tidying.

Frequency matters. Weekly clients typically pay less per visit than monthly clients because there is less buildup between cleanings.

Typical Prices in Tiffin and Bucyrus

Here is what you can expect in our area. These are general ranges since every home is different.

Regular Cleaning (Maintenance Clean)

1 to 2 bedroom: $100 to $140
3 bedroom: $140 to $200
4+ bedroom: $200 and up

First Time or One Time Cleaning

Starting at $150 for small homes
Typically $200 to $350 for average homes

First visits take longer because I am learning your home and often doing extra work to get things to a maintainable level. After the first clean, regular visits go faster.

Move In or Move Out Cleaning

Starting at $250
Typically $300 to $500 depending on size and condition

These are the most detailed cleans. Every surface, inside every cabinet, appliances, windows. The goal is a home that looks ready for new occupants or to get your deposit back.

Hourly vs Flat Rate

Some cleaners charge by the hour. Others quote a flat rate for the job. Both approaches are valid.

I prefer to give a flat rate after learning about your home. That way you know exactly what to expect and there are no surprises. If a job takes me longer than expected, that is on me.

Hourly rates in our area typically run $25 to $40 per hour per cleaner. But the total depends on how many hours it takes, which can vary.

What About Discounts?

Many cleaning services, including mine, offer better rates for regular clients. If you book weekly or biweekly service, you will typically pay less per visit than someone who calls for occasional one time cleans.

This makes sense for everyone. Regular clients have less buildup, so the work goes faster. And I can count on that income, which means I can offer a better rate.

Should You Tip?

Tips are never required but always appreciated. If you feel like your cleaner went above and beyond or you just want to show appreciation, 10 to 20 percent is a nice gesture. Many clients tip around the holidays as well.

But honestly, the best thing you can do is recommend your cleaner to friends and family if you are happy with the work. Word of mouth is how most of us grow our business.
